So  tired this morning.....have to keep telling myself, we will get there..
You will :)  If it makes you feel any better I have had two days in the last fortnight where DD has had one 30 minute nap all day!  So it's never perfect for any of us, even if it seems so ;)

Thanks so much for your help!

Oh yay, some EASY advice! ;) (Sorry for my absence, had a nutty Sunday. :P)

Sounds like the transition to the crib went great!!  Well done, Ivy! ;D  As for the 6hr stretch at night, I agree, when you're ready, you can do it.  No reason to make yourself do it and then question it.  One thing at a time.... :)

No problem Katie, hope things have settled down for you! Yes, I think we are working up to the 6 hour bit. I think she is needing me to step back more quickly and be a calm presence and voice but let her do her thing. PU's are getting less and less frequent. Guess it is the age.....

I do think the bigger bed is helping, we are working with a lovey too "PInky Mouse" ( one of those things with a small blankie and a head on it) she has loved for a while and I have put it in her bed, we play with it when she wakes up, I let her hold it and cuddle it when she nurses. I wonder if it was a bit too novel having it in her bed for the first time at night time tonight. She rolled around in there for quite a while. I just walked out and let her wrestle around then went back in when she was getting upset.  Mostly talked to her and then laid my hand on her at the end.  Wound up with 2hr40 after a 30 minute CN!!! Finally out at 8:08.  Total day sleep back up to 3 hours but over a !!!14!! hour day. OH well, always tomorrow!!!

Been getting great EASY advice form Katherine ( I give her full credit for our good 1st nap). Hopefully I can figure little Ivy out and help her get the rest she needs, glad I had some guidance, our A's were getting silly high. I wondered if our naps were *secretly* OT as I was browsing the sample routines and our A's were looking awfully ambitious. Sigh...hindsight!!! Yay for BW and FX for a good night!

Good grief. Sometimes I feel like if I change Ivy's diaper at the wrong time, we pay for it for the next 24  hours. So we had an OK night. NF at 12 after FINALLY going to sleep at 8:08. THenNF at 4. THen some chirping around 6, I actually came downstairs and had my hand on the doorknob. Then up at 7:10. 1st nap 10:28. Blew up. Resettle at 30 minutes in, got another 25. Thinking I will only do 2hr50 for next A and hope very hard for decent nap. She had trouble settling for 1st nap. Should I take this as "hold at 3hr unless she has unusually good, solid 12 hour nap?" It seems that I could go nuts trying to get A time just right based on length and quality of night and 100 other variables.

Next nap at 2:12 If she goes even to 3:12 thinking I may cut the day short and do 6:15 BT. Of course our day may beigin at 5 then. But adding on a CN to a ( I am assuming here) yucky day doesn't seem wise. Oh I don't know!!!!

Does this sound like a plan??

Yes, I think you might be getting to the point where the CN makes things worse than better (i.e. the day gets too long and she ends up OT from not enough day sleep).  EBT seems to work better at this age.

Hopefully I can figure little Ivy out and help her get the rest she needs, glad I had some guidance, our A's were getting silly high. I wondered if our naps were *secretly* OT as I was browsing the sample routines and our A's were looking awfully ambitious.
It definitely could be... all babies are different, but sometimes when they're pushed so far, they end up sleeping a longer nap only because they crash in a way.  For her age, 3-3.5hr A would be average, so I think holding there is a good plan.  As for the quality of night, this is another reason I think an EBT would be helpful.  Then, even if she's up a tad earlier (hopefully not), she'll still have had a longer night, so you don't have to keep guessing.

She is so adorable, btw; cute new avatar! :)

OK, so today was less than ideal but shortened the whole day so maybe it will limit the damage?? Hope so. She had a choppy 55 minute nap and a choppy 1 hr 10 nap. Both had 30 min minute resettles. Did 2hr50 to BT and she fell asleep nursing, I let her. She woke 38 minutes later and took 26 minutes to get back to sleep.  She woke 20 minutes later. Took 4 minutes to settle. SHe's been out 3hr15 minutes since BT now and hope she is out for a bit. Sweet girl. THink I need to cut things back even more A wise. Our 2nd A was only 2hr50 and STILL 30 minute nonsense.

The "crash nap" makes perfect sense...have to watch our A's for sure, if I remember right, she had been getting 1hr15 naps for abit after 3hr30, but maybe that was OT all along and the push just was too much.

She is so adorable, btw; cute new avatar! :)
Thanks! She is really a sweet baby, even after blown up naps it is not long before she is smiling and "talking" again!!

Just had to resettle, just 4 minutes, maybe I will get some sleep tonight!! ;)

What a night! Ivy had several NW's early on after her 6:10 BT. THen was up for 1.5 hours from 1:30ish to3.Well basically up, she would sleep 5-10 minutes and then wake up, just as I was dozing off! Resettle, repeat. Back to sleep at 4, Then up at 6.  Holding 3 hr A this morning, hoping to get some rest in her.

She fell asleep in the pack at 2.5hr while I was getting breakfast. I just laid her down and got 1hr15. Thinking go for 2nd nap at 2hr50. We will definitely need a CN to get to a decent BT today. Oh well, we try!!

2nd nap wound up at 3hr3. She woke at 30 minute mark, I resettled, then she did another 33 minutes. NOt sure if DS's squawk in the other room had anything to do with this or not ::). Going for CN at 2.5 hrs in and then BT 2 hrs after that, hoping it is not too much like last night as my sister arrives tonight and I would like to see her in between settling Ivy!!!

Thanks, this OTness just seems like it is so hard to get ahead of it! Just one good nap or (ha) one good night. Well we will keep on trying. AT least it is a nice day out, a CN outside will likely give me some perspective. Deep breaths..... ;)
