:-* Elise. Defiantly noticing more fluxing though now he's taking good big feeds... Doesn't seem to cause too much pain but just causing trouble with settling ??? Ill have a think about thickeners if he gets really spilly.

Might be good idea to try a thickener.... Do you have some good thickeners in NZ?

No idea! Ill have to do some research. Never used them with Z (bf and silent reflux so little spilling - accept the odd projectile when I overfed)
I guess I will have to make sure what is in them T can tolerate?

Here in Canada thickeners aren't really popular. The only one I could get was Simply Thick, which I had to order online from the US. It was xanthan-gum based and it would give M horrible gas and diapers, so I had to stop it. Lots of LO's do great on thickened formula though. Definitely check to be sure it is dairy free before you try it.

I wish they could do the hypo allergenic formula thicker - most allergic LO's have reflux, would be so useful if they found a way to do that. ;)

Infant gav did nothing. ::)
I think we have wind issues though :-\ I'm using infacol in his bottle. The size 1 was taking forever and initially the var flow seemed good BUT now were struggling to get the wind up. Tried size 2 but still windy :-\ I'm not sure if reflux is at play or not but I'm struggling to keep his feeds more than 3 hrs apart and then because they are only 3 hrs apart he's only having 3oz or so ... I got him to have 4 after 3hr15 and a huge winding session between 3-4 ounces....

Any ideas to help with the wind? Or maybe better positioning for feeding? Last night he woke twice and had 4/5 oz feeds so I know he needs his day feeds spaced.

I would maybe try the size 2 and give him a couple of days to adjust... extra wind is totally normal when you go up a size...

I assume he is fairly upright, but maybe do lay him back a touch - DD always had more air when upright oddly enough...

Ugh, it's the reflux, back in full force ::) long story short we just switched to a different drug companies version of the same med, turns out its rubbish for him. So getting old stuff back (which is unsubsidised boo) and hoping things come right.

In meantime EAS is a MESS - I pretty much fed t to sleep (which i never do) then aped an hour and he's still asleep 2 hrs after that catching up :o

I 'think' once we come right he will be close to 5 oz/150 mls a feed and I know he can go longer than 3 hrs so maybe shoot for 3hrs15 or should I try for 3.5? - or keep going with the flow???

Btw - bottle prep is a pita!

(((hugs))) Sara.

I hope the new meds help with his reflux. Don't worry too much about EASY - once he's really fine it should go better.

Btw - bottle prep is a pita!

I know! :(

Bottle prep is only crap if you use powder formula with a newbie ;)

I was really lucky that DD was fine with standard infant formula - concentrate makes life a whole lot easier!

Now that we use powder for the 2 small bottles she still has each day, I use warm tap water ;)
