how to fit BF - bath - WD in just one hour?
« on: December 22, 2012, 20:11:15 pm »
hi there, we have a 3,5 week old dd [a bit early to determine but she seems rather textbook, especially in comparison with her spirited big sister ;) ], we're on EASY since the very beginning and it's going on good, some days [and naps] are better, some worse, but she's still so tiny I don't stress myself [too much...]. Anyway, as her "active" A times are usually 1 hour [from wake up until first yawn] and it's working pretty good for her, we're having problems with the last A time before bed. She wakes from nap [a catnap really], nurses, has to be held upright for a bit, we give her a bath [she hates it, screams all the time mostly], then I BF her for a moment again and then she has to be held upright again, then we try to put her down but it's always already way over 1 hour and she gets OT and won't settle. Every night :-/
Any ideas? TIA

Oh, and do I need to add that bedtime mayhem leads to her waking up after 45 min? yuck!

Congratulations on your new bundle of joy!

Can you do a bath in another A time? Maybe before the catnap? Its sometimes better to have her overstimulated and cranky before what should be a short nap anyway that ruin night time... That way you only have to feed and WD to bedtime in that last 45min-1hr.

I was going to suggest the same thing - we actually did bath in the morning at this age.

oh right, thanks, haven't thought about it :) will try for the next few days. The only problem is that daddy wants to help and he's sometimes home no sooner than 6:30 due to dd1 after school activities. but well, good sleep is more important.

Can he do the bath in the morning when she first wakes up? That can work well too.

well not really, he has to take dd1 to school and himself to work ;) both start at 8am.

anyway, if he's not home for the bath that's ok with me, he'll have to adjust a bit, he's a big boy and can do it ;) [I hope, lol]
