Very unsettled at nite
« on: January 01, 2013, 13:30:24 pm »
Just wondering my lo is very unsettled at nite. He is 5 weeks old weighs 9lb 7 oz and takes 3 to 4 oz most bottles.

He was a a good time rountie for bout a week
Bottle at 7 bedtime rountie then bed by 8. Df feed at 11 then wake at 3or 330 for bottle then would wake up round 7 and start the day.

He still has the same rountie but he wakes up alot at nite may wake round 2 on and off till i give him his bottle at 3 then he go back over but b very unsettled and wake up again round 6 try to resettle him and give him is bottle at 7. he can last inbetween bottle fine he just unsetted loads durind the nite means i aint getting much sleep.

Now his nose is a bit stuffy and toke him to docs he said that he fine but keep close eye on him. I am using saline spary for his nose but aint helping much just wondering if its his nose that make him unsettled or something else very confused.

Hi

The two things I could see is that it is a growth spurt which happens around 6 weeks and perhaps your little one needs more feeds but if you really think he isn't looking for more food then it is probably the nose bothering him when he comes into a light sleep. I swear by our 'snot sucker'! It is a tube that you put up their nose and the other end in your mouth - don't worry, there is a filter so nothing can go into your mouth. It has made a significant difference to both my little ones sleep over the years until they learn how to blow their noses.

Good luck :-)

This is what the PP is talking about: http://www.amazon.com/Nosefrida-The-Snotsucker-Nasal-Aspirator/dp/B00171WXII/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1357096847&sr=1-1&keywords=nasal+aspirator

I've never used it, but heard great things about it.

Totally agree with PP -- also, are you definitely getting good burps up after that 2/3 AM feeding?  Sometimes gas/wind can make babies very unsettled.

Ugh, sorry about that night.  Hmm, there has to be some sort of discomfort there -- is that dream feed any different than other feeds in any way?  Or the middle of the night feed different from the dream feed and other feeds?

Do you have any other symptoms of milk allergy?  Normal poops, etc?
