Non-nursing bras and how long to wait to buy them
« on: January 15, 2013, 20:57:25 pm »
DD is down to 1 feed a day and I would like to go back to wearing my normal bras but not sure if it may cause problems or not with the underwire. Is it recommended to wait until you are completely finished? On a related note, if I was to buy a new bra, when did you ladies find that your size stabilized?  I don't know if I should be expecting more fluctuation yet or not...Thanks in advance.

i would not worry about that all. with my DS i only wore wire bras while nursing for 13 months.

i would buy a couple that fit now and then buy more when you need them. however, i am very for having a bra that fits well!

i cant remember how long it took for my boobs to shrink!!! it was depressing!!!!  mine have shrunk some already as the bra i have on is a little big.

I'm just wearing my pre-preg bras which fit pretty well most of the time. I might even shrink to the point I can buy a normal bra in a normal shop when I stop feeding...

When I took my breast feeding class, they stated you could not wear underwire for the first 3 months, after that you should be fine...just wanted to let you know what I heard!

I've been wearing underwire nursing bras since DS2 was born. I've never heard that your not supposed to wear wire.

Thanks ladies. Looks like I am good to go then. Pulled out a couple of my non-nursing bras today and it feels great to finally have some support :)

The NHS website here in the UK says that some experts believe the underwire can cause blocked milk ducts by pressing on them but there is no actual evidence of this so it is down to you. Enjoy!
