Newborn feeding every 4 hours...
« on: January 19, 2013, 18:32:04 pm »
My DD is 9 days old and hates feeding more than every 4 hours. I've tried putting her on a 3 hourly schedule, but she started refusing feeds and taking about ten minutes on the breast every hour, when she had previously been eating for 45 mins or so. Should I keep trying to get her to eat every 3 hours? She's gaining weight fine and settles really well to sleep.

If she's having plenty of wet and dirty nappies I'd keep with what is working.  Is she feeding 4hourly through the night ok too?  Its still very early days and if shes gaining weight and sleeping well she's obviously getting enough.

Enjoy those newborn snuggles x

DS is 4 weeks old now and he did the same in the first weeks. As long as your lo is gaining weight, enjoy the down time! Countless parents would envy you. Sleep is growth too. :-)
