I have an almost 5 month old son who absolutely refuses anything in his mouth except my breast. That includes taking a bottle. We initially introduced him to the bottle when he was about 6 weeks old. He would grudgingly take a bottle from my husband but only drink 1 ounce or less. Then reflux and other medical complications reared its ugly head and we got completely off track with not only getting him to take a bottle but sleeping. I did not want to push the bottle issue when we were trying to figure out the medical issues and the sleep problems. We finally seem to have the reflux issues under control and are working on the sleep problems. I would really like to start re-introducing the bottle and am not sure exactly how to do it. I had to be apart from him this morning for one of his feedings and he absolutely refused to take the bottle. He screamed for almost an hour and was offered the bottle 3 separate times and would not take it. He even got upset enough to spit up everywhere. He was an exhausted, hungry mess when I got home and I am still trying to get him back on track. I do not want to give up breastfeeding but would like him to take at least one bottle a day so that if we are separated for more than 3 hours he would be able to eat. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
