when should a 6 w/o be asleep for the night?
« on: January 23, 2013, 20:21:02 pm »
my lo doesn not seem to settle down for sleep at night for hours. il start at around 7 30/8 (depending on when her cat nap was) but she takes forever to clsoe her eyes, and when she does finally she wakes  every few minutes. i thought maybe its reflux, but not sure. is it just ot? or typical newborns? usually by around 11ish she is finally soundly asleep.

My dd is the same way.  She wants to cluster feed a lot before going to sleep so ATM I'm going with it and feeding her frequently in the evenings and ten she settles well.  Otherwise she's a crying mess.

What does your routine look like?  Also remember at 6 weeks, a lot of Los have a growth spurt.

That was pretty typical newborn for us.  I think I read somewhere that it takes nearly 2 weeks of a good bed time routine for it to sink in a little.  Just keep pushing forward, you'll get there!

I saw your other post about reflux.  If she has trapped gas or is refluxing, then she won't settle easily.  With both of my Los, I found the 4 to 8 week period tough due to trapped gas or wind.  We really had to work on burping them and bicycling their legs to help alleviate discomfort. A vibrating chair also helps.  My dd would vomit up most of her feeds but figuring out how to get her to burp has greatly reduced the amount of spit up.
