19 week old NW after sleeping through the nt
« on: January 24, 2013, 21:17:59 pm »
My 19 wk old started sttn at 9 weeks. Recently though he has started waking at night. Here is what our routine is.
Wake at 600 am
Eat at 615 6 oz
Nap 745 for about an hour
Eat at 915 6 oz
Nap about 10 or 1030 sometimes 45min sometimes 11/2 hrs
Eat at 1215 6 oz
Nap at 1ish
Eat at 330 6 oz
Nap at 4 usually an hr
Eat  at 615-630 7 oz and if still hungry rice cereal
Nap at 630
Bathe at 730-8
Eat at 830 7 oz
Bed at 9
He puts himself to sleep every night, never fusses.
Has started waking about 1 am, but puts himself back to sleep. Wakes again at 245-300 am and I try letting him fuss until he alls back asleep. Sometimes it happens but most of the time I have to go in, change a very wet diaper. Then I sshh him and sooth him back to sleep. 10 minutes later he cries, sometimes his pacifier falls out ( although he knows how to put it in his mouth) and one times he is just fussing. This goes on for 1-2 hours.
Last night I found him on his stomach for the first time(not sure how long he had been like that) but he did eventually wake up bc he couldn't roll back on his back...
I'm not sure what to do? Any help would be great!

Hi :)

Looks like he needs longer awake time before his naps so he takes longer, more restorative naps. He's also got a really long day - at this age, we aim for 12-13hr day and 11-12hr night, so if your ideal wakeup time is 7am, bedtime would be no later than 8pm (that's asleep in bed at that time).

A routine I'd try for to start off with would be:
6 - wake, eat
8 - nap
9:30 - wake, eat
11:30 - nap
1 - wake, eat
3 - nap
4:30 - wake, eat
6:30 - bedtime

Are you feeding him at all over night? I would say one to night feeds is pretty common at this age, even when FF - if he's taking a long time to settle with frequent replugging, you may find its best to just feed when he wakes at 3ish and get both of you back to bed.
