Why don't you try a nap at the usual time aishi? Even if he had a long night, he should be tired by the nn day yesterday. For us this is always the case.

I can get away with quite a few NN days so long as I use EBT every few days... our bedtime was 8pm when she napped, it's all the way back to 645pm now.. I can do 615-630pm and she will tack on and sleep later than her typical 720am (as late as 8am!).

She isn't one to tack on generally either, but the rules do change during transitions!

Aishi what was his nap day like? We can go as early as 5.30 here with no nap. I just pulled bt super early. May be worth a try.

This week was quite strange, F napped well (at preschool) every single day, with the last nn day being last Friday. His nights are shorter, in part because I cannot put him down early (I am alone this week as DH is away for work, so it takes little more doing all the routine by myself... and yesterday, for example, I was home at 7.30 pm after work...) and bt ends up 10-15 mins later, in part for the nap, but still they are around 10.5 h which is not bad at all if we consider a 1-1.5 h nap every day. I can see how his sleep needs vary with time, definitely he's not a stable sleep pattern. I think this time he is feeling that DH is away so his sleep patterns also resent for it and give shorter nights, so he needs to nap to compensate. Today I am expecting no nap, because he will be at MIL's in the afternoon and he often doesn't nap there, especially after so many nap days. We will see what happen.

Hi Sara

Nap days

Wu 6.30
Nap 1.30/45-2.15/30 capped
Bt 8/8.15
I started capping nap at 45 min cos he was takung upto an hour to fall asleep after an hour nap...

Just dont think he would tack on wih a 5.30 bt...think it would be a 4.30 wu...

So with a night of 10 hrs 15 mins and a 45 min nap, he was totalling 11 hrs in 24... so a NN day with a  12 hr night is an improvement :)

I would aim for it but do offer a nap every few days if you see him start to suffer with OT a touch... Clairebear still gives her wee man a catch up nap if needed for as long as 2.5 hrs and it doesn't effect his night as he is just catching up, KWIM?

DS gets grumpy when I say it's time to go for his nap but he still settles for the nap.  Anyone else experiencing this?  It's a drag for me, brings my energy levels right down when he starts the refusal tantrum and i have to plod on with our usual WD and settling because I know he'll still take a decent nap.  I dread it some days, it makes me feel so tired. Add to that sitting in a dark room for a few mins too and I'm shattered.

DS woke briefly at 5.15 which he always does when UT at Bt and woke for day at 6.35 so will aim for a nnd.

Creations my DS is the same but since i only st him a few months ago i let him have bottle fir nap since i know hes gping to drop it soon so it saves the nap time battle. he often finishes his milk before falling asleep and still takes a nap....so not much help but i know what you mean. hugs hon xx

Creations, F always says he doesn't want to nap and sometimes has tantrums. I noticed that the more he's tired the more he has meltdowns because he doesn't want to nap. He also tries to resist nap for half an hour or more, even if he needs it (and in these case, if I know he needs it, I force the nap and he eventually falls asleep).
He had a nn day yesterday with a short nigh. Don't know how long because he was with MIL, so I can't really trust her timings... that's another story, but I am quite annoyed with her (I asked her to put him to bed at 8.30 yesterday, he was still awake at 8.40 when I phoned and then she said that he was asleep at 8.35....and I know it's not true...  >:( then she said he was up at 6.50 because he was wet but after a change he fell asleep again until 7.45. I know that normally when he falls asleep in the am he sleeps much longer than usual, so I think he probably did not fall asleep at all... the point is I can't trust her and I am really annoyed!  >:(). Anyhow, he didn't want to sleep today, but when I put him down he was asleep in 10 mins (I think) that is a record for napping these days... so definitely, he needed it and I'll let him to have a longer catch up nap of 1.5 h.

Aishi-looks like the long nap did the trick yest! I do still do this when o is getting ot & it always puts us back on track with a decent wu the next day.

DS gets grumpy when I say it's time to go for his nap but he still settles for the nap.  Anyone else experiencing this?
Yes! O is exactly the same, 'i dont want to go upstairs mummy, i'm not tired', when we get up there he doesnt want to put his pj bottoms on or get into bed & he tries to engage me in any way possible to stop me leaving, usually involves a lot of tears & protesting & my stress levels are through the roof. I usually have to walk out & he wails for a couple of mins then goes to sleep for 2hrs. Think its a case of them not wanting to as opposed to not needing too. A test of the old boundaries perhaps?  I also agree with barbara that O makes much more fuss if he's ot than ut.  I for one will be glad when the nap is gone & these battles are no more!

Things are ok here, after our mega ew on tue he napped for 3 days though wed-thurs was a struggle getting him down. He slept in til 7.45am yest so i did a nn day & bed at 6.30. He woke 6.10 then back to sleep til about 7.15 so an improvement on the past few nn days phew!

I'm settled that naps are gone here :(  Sigh.  I will miss my mommy time but I do enjoy the 12-13 hr nights!
