agree with the quiet time mama c. i put ds in his room at 1 and hes quite happy to stay for upto two hrs if he doesnt fall asleep. think thats why hes coping with 12h days so well. otherwise he has major ot meltdowns if hes tired...

only a 11.5 h night but he sttn so cant complain too much... will aim for 11.5h day rather than 12h if he doesnt nap cos hes got a play date this pm with his older cousin so imagine he will tire earlier....

hope everyone else is doing ok xx

Things have spiraled here :(

Nights are still under 12 hrs and tonight we got a BT fiasco like no other!  She is showing all of her typical signs of OT buildup now too... SA at bedtime that would break anyone's heart and being so so clingy!  She is a complete mess from 2pm onwards now too... it's getting worse instead of better... she did a day of 13.5 hrs today with the bedtime show... it was so bad that I got her up and brought her downstairs for 45 mins :(

I am going to try to get naps back at the expense of night length... she's just so miserable!

I wouldnt give up just yet. How long was his A time before you tried the nap and how long did you try for? The other option if he is getting ot and having ot nw's is to cut his day way shorter an try for a 10-10.5 hr day. He may tack on from being ot or he may wake earlier which in that case it may be easier to get a nap from him the next day.

Ugh... it's ugly in this house!  We have some tooth movement causing issues.. and the SA is out of this world!  It's like she's 3 months old all over again... I put her down and she screams like someone is trying to kill her... I rock her until sleepy and she jolts awake the second she feels the mattress!  So, I am having to rock her to sleep until she is out cold and past the jolts to put her down, then sneak out of her room!  It's crazy!  I even tried WIWO and only lasted 2 mins cause she was hysterical :(  She woke from her nap twice (resettled at 1 hr fairly quickly) but then was up at 90 mins!  I have had to cap naps for months cause she will nap her life away.. so weird!  Last night was bad too... OT cry outs at 11pm, and then again at 530am... she slept 8pm-615am...  and that was after an 11hr 50 min night and NND!

Can someone wake me up when she is 5??  Ugh.

:( booo sorry OT has hit hard. Is it worth trying SEBT if se won't take that nap? - like 5.30. Honestly I never thought Z would tack but he does like a 13.5/14 hr night!

I have thought about trying it but there are so many other issues with staying asleep that I am terrified of trying it!  We are also just starting to have the issues of the lovely birds chirping at random early times too... bah - I hate spring!

She has a super loud clock in her room (if you listen carefully, you just might hear it!).  I have tried a fan before and it just annoyed her...

Hi ladies! sounds like everyone is having a hard time!  We are struggling again also.  We were doing pretty well until the past few days.  They had began napping again and seems like will nap for as long as I will let them!  I know they are extremely tired because of the OT signs I'm getting but we are only getting 9 or 10 hours at night again. Also they are NWing again and so restless calling out for me in their sleep!   Can you all tell me what in the world to do with this schedule?  They are just so hard to fiqure out!  They are 28 months
7:20/7:30-up
1:20/1:30-3:15/3:30- nap- I have been waking them at the 2 hour mark.
8:30- lights out but it usually takes them till 9 to fall asleep.  Is the nap to long still and to late or do I need to move bt up?
I hate to put them to bed earlier, the weather is getting beautiful here and we love to stay out in the evenings

gwcarnes. The routine looks ok, but it may be they not tired if having a 2hr nap. At that age i think i had to increase my ds's morning A time to around 6.5hrs, is that something you could try? So nap at 2 pm & wake by 4? Stick with 8.30pm bedtime & you might find they are a wee bit more tired & go down quicker? The only other thing i can think is to throw in the odd nnd, then even with the nap they'll be more tired for bed.

Kara - i second what sara said. We too find 10.5hrs a good day length & if he's had several nnd's in a row we put him down after 10hrs & he will do 13-14 hrs overnight. & like sara says if she's up early you have more chance of getting a nap.

We had 4 nnd's in a row & he's shattered today & napped 2.5hrs with mil & she had to wake him. I fear a super late bedtime coming on!!
