the bottle worked at nap today. dyt i should try it for bt and ew too? it was a nightmare losing it as a prop the first time tho...

co sleeping def doesnt work at naps or ew...he just talks to me and tries telling me stories!

ps what would u guys do tomorrow assuming he wakes at 6/6.30 re nap length and bt and aftually getting him to fall asleep?

I wouldn't use a bottle simply because of his age... I weaned DD at 25 months cold turkey ;)  It was a rough week and I wouldn't go through it again!

Honestly, if he has a good night of at least 11 hrs, i would try a NND and SEBT :)

Aishi, just try it. At least if he wakes at 4.30 your more likely to et him back to sleep than at 6 YK?
I would go for 6pm. We do 5.30 for Z but I know he tacks on and has done since the 2-1. And I'm a risk taker lol

Aishi, I would put down at 5:45 and hope for sleep by 6:15, that is actually what M's schedule is right now. Up at 7 bed at 5:45, sometimes he doesnt fall asleep until 7 or after but at least he is resting while waiting for sleep to claim him.

he falls asleep straigh away when not really ot so was asleep by 6 :). he had 2 brief nws  at 9 and 12.30 but settled quickly. wu was 6.30 so a 12.5h night!!

i guess i should try for a nap today and 13h day max?? what time should bt be if he doesnt nap? hes never done more than 12.5h night regardless of day length so an ebt today will mean 5.30/ 6am wu....

If you cant get him to nap then I would go for some quiet time of at least 45min if at all possible, but since he still had some ot nw's then I would stick with an ebt. If nn then I would still do bt at 5:45. With a nap, it would depend on nap length I guess but I would do 6:30 with a nap. Personally I would rather make sure he is over all the ot before I worry about shifting his wu later.

Awake again at 11.30. Is this really ot still? Not ut cos it was 11hr day after 12.5hr night? Its not a happy nw tho...should i be trying 10.5h days even if it means he' ll miss tea time???

Confused...

Update. I ended up co sleeping  with him but he still had nw at 4.30 and wu was 6 so only just over 12hr night...

Why wont he tack on?? Should i let him have uncapped nap even if it means late bt or do 11hr day and 5pm bt?

I would stick with the 5:45 bt even tho he was up earlier. If he decides to nap then you can adjust from there, it would depend on nap length. Is it possible that he isnt using enough energy during the day? I know when we have rainy days and M doesnt get to run around and really get a work out he wont sleep good, too much built up energy I think. It is possible that 11 hours is too long, but I doubt it. BUT if he is falling asleep almost instantly, then it could be. I just remembered a stage we went through, where if M fell asleep within 5 min, then he would have NW's. And whenever it took him longer than that to fall asleep, he would sttn.  That wasnt helpful going back and forth was it, my thoughts dont always line up in order, lol.

I think in time he will tack on, it's just a matter of getting the right balance of exercise, sleep and restful periods. For example, M always tacks on BUT if he is getting a bit OT from all the nn days, he starts waking between 6-6:30 even tho he doesnt act ot at all. In that case, I will give him a longer rest period during the day and do bt 10 min earlier, last night he was in bed at 5:30 because he asked for it. He then tacked on and slept till 7, after 4 days of waking at 6-6:30.

That makes sense mama c...he did nap today 12.45-2.05 uncapped. I tried getting him to sleep for 6.30 but he didnt fall asleep till 8.00....he had a busy day playing with his cousin so he had enough exercuse  but hes still had nw at 10...

Nw at 12. I left him and he ss. Maybe waking out of habit too now?? He then sttn till 7! Yay. I think u may be right bout needing more physical exercise...

Ill try for a nap but doubt he will sleep so will do quiet time...If its a nnd should i stick to the 5.45 bt?? I know u do with your lo but my ds is a bit older, will be 3 in june...

Thanks again for your help x

I need help with bt again.  I've been trying a little later nap and capping nap at 1 hr 30 min or 1 hr 45 min to try to get an earlier bed time ( has been 10:00!!!!!) and longer nights ( lucky if I get 10 hrs after a long nap).  The girls are not to happy about me capping but they would sleep the day away and stay up til midnight if I would let them!  Anyway here's eas what time should I aim for bt?

7:20/7:30 wake
2:00-3:30/3:45- nap
Bt????  I have aimed for 8 but they still take about 30 to 40 min to settle does bt need to be earlier still?

gwcarnes, with a similar routine (wu 7.30-8, nap 2.15/2.30-3.30/3.45) our bt is not earlier than 9 pm. And sometimes he sleeps as late as 9.30 pm. We are the same as you, with an hour nap night are 10-10.5 h. However, when he wakes before 8 am he needs a nap, so I know I need to deal with short nights anyway... as long as we don't have nw, I am enough fine with this.
