Help tweaking 8 month old sleep routine
« on: January 28, 2013, 21:44:24 pm »
Hi all
Just wondering if any of you would have suggestions to help us. We are lucky and have a darling little girl who is generally a great sleeper and settles herself for her naps and night sleep. Of late (a month or so), she is waking cranky for her afternoon nap and often wakes in the first few hours of her night sleep and is very hard to settle. I feel its a routine issue (under-tired/over-tired??) and wonder if any of you would have ideas. Not sure about timing of afternoon nap and sleep cues are harder to read these days and wondering about bedtime?? Dont think teeth are an issue at the moment and she is well and good humoured when awake.

Her EASY is;
7.00 Wake and bottle
7.30 Brekkie
10.15/10.30 Nap (60-75 mins - wakes happy)
12.30 Lunch
3.30 Nap (40 mins, wakes crying)
5.00 Dinner
6.30 Bottle and bedtime routine
7.00 Asleep (if she wakes, its usually between 9.30-10.30 and she cries a lot and is very hard to settle).

Thanks!

Hi, and sorry you haven't had a reply yet.

It looks like she could do with a little push in A time before the first nap - I'd try adding ten mins and holding for a few days, then add another ten if you're not getting a 1.5h or more nap.  I always struggled with the pm nap (it's common at this age) but if you can get a good restorative first nap and keep the day to 12h, you might get away with a short second one :)
