Here is an update... And its actually a good one!!
5 days ago we gave up the dummy. Cold turkey. It was tough going at times, and still is as he is still learning to self soothe. Naptimes have now become 1.5 to 2hours (from 45mins - 1hr) and last night he slept 9hrs straight with no wake ups AT ALL... He has been going up to 10hrs without a feed for months but has never slept more than 4 or 5 hours straight in months and usually wakes 4 to 5 times a night!
Removing the dummy was the most obvious and best solution for us and really surprised me how quickly he learnt a new way to fall asleep :)
I realise we have another growth spurt due but for now I am enjoying the fact that calm has been restored and everything feels so much less chaotic!
Thank you for all your help and support over the last few months :)

I'm so happy to hear you have had such success with weaning the dummy. Well done mama!

Teaching him to sleep truly independently will be so helpful even if he has setbacks like teething or sickness as it won't take much to get back there now he has learned IS.
