Had him checked yesterday for an ear infection, and nothing there.

Still having bad nights, I think I've become a prop now, but he is riddled with a runny nose and a cough so I think holding him upright when he wakes means his nose clears and he can accept his dummy.

It's so wearing....I don't feel comfortable with pu pd either as I'm such a wimp!

It's not easy when they get stuck in those times where it seems like there's always sick, teething, etc.  I always do better waiting until they get healthy and then just go for it.  If you're unsure about PU/PD you can do more of a gradual weaning of whatever prop you're using -- that much you generally can do when they're sick, but even if you were thinking about pu/pd I'd wait until he's better.

Thanks Erin, that's reassuring. He's woken up this morning and the runny nose seems to have gone and now he's coughing like Gollum!!

Just seems like he's been ill forever-bloody England and the cold weather!

LOL "coughing like Gollum" -- I know that sound.  Hope he's better soon!  This winter has been endless here in the US, I can't wait for spring.
