Trying to get back on track....
« on: February 05, 2013, 15:56:00 pm »
My dd who is 6 months and naps seem to have gone out the window.

Easy is:

7am wake & eat

S 9 but wakens 945 sometime or 1015

Then it goes wrong if she only naps for short time.

I get mixed up as to what to d after a short morning nap! How long do I keep her up.

For last three days we have had 3/4 30/45 min naps. Her afternoon nap is usually her best I normally have to waken her. Is it ok for her yo have a long nap at this time? Say 3-5? Or will this interfere with bt, which is between 630/730 depending on how day has been!!

Thanks in advance!

That morning A time is a bit short - the average for this age is around 2hr30-45. I'd push that nap gradually to 9.30 so she's tired enough for a long nap.

Is she on two naps or three? If she does a short nap, does she not nap again until 3 or so?

Thanks for reply. So should I gradually increase action time even if she isn't getting good naps? Sorry for all questions I just feel so lost I used to be able to read her but now I'm confused and it's awful on her :(

She is on 3 naps one being cat nap around 4/430 for 45mins.

She woke this morning at 630 played in cot until 7. By 830 she was rubbing eyes and went to sleep. Awake again 9!

It's 1120 now and she's asleep after a grumpy morning!! Hope it's a long one. She slept all night last night from 8-630 this am so I don't want day naps to start disrupting her nights sleep!

It's usually recommended to increase in 15 min increments, to let your LO get used to the longer A time and avoid OT. You may still get UT naps in the meantime though! Tired signs at this age can be a bit unreliable, and can also be out of habit or a sign of boredom, so try a change of scene to stretch out the A time. As her A times increase, she'll probably be nearly ready to drop the catnap and move to two naps. Have you seen this link?

All about the 3-2 transition- 5/6 months

Will try this today. Wake up was 630. Started nap 850 so it's a bit later. Hopefully this works because she gets so grumpy as day goes on with 30min naps. If morning nap is short the days sleep is ruined.

Have looked at the dropping cat nap articles but haven't tried until I get other naps sorted. Thanks for help :)
