Elecare prep question
« on: February 16, 2013, 22:30:36 pm »
We have a tin of elecare to try for T. It says to use cooled boiled water to make the bottles. Neocate can't be heated from cool so I wanted to check given the instructions weren't particularly clear if elecare bottles an be heated when needed.

Does that make sense? - I'm also off to check the site :-\

Did some digging and massive Googling hun...

It can be prepped and immediately stored in the fridge for up to 24 hrs, and you can re-heat it before feeding bubs.

Looks like the standard powder formula rules apply.

FYI: Cooled boiled water actually means water that is still above 70C to ensure any ickies in the powder are eliminated.  If you bring the water to a boil in your kettle, let it boil rapidly for about 3-5 mins, then shut it off... it will cool down to about 70C in 15-20mins.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Hun. Neocate is funny. You can't store it in ten fridge at all so I wondered if elecare was the same but I had missed something - given they are supposedly the same stuff ::) x
