DS will be 6 months next week. For a period of more than two months, he was waking up 8-10 times a night. I was feeding him 2, the odd time 3 times a night. He would re-settle easily, I just had to give him his paci. The past two weeks or so he has been getting much better with NWings and I'm only up 3-4 times with him. The problem is that I'm still feeding him 2-3 times a night, and he will often not re-settle without being fed, even if I've fed him just three hours prior. I have a 22 month old daughter that sleeps in the room beside him. I don't want him to wake her up, so feeding him is a quick solution. I also can't do pu/pd as I am experiencing pain in my arm (previously had carpal tunnel syndrome). I've tried sitting with him in the chair in his room and rocking, but it doesn't work. So I just resort to feeding him. If it is a third feed, it's usually only 3-4 minutes, and often he's still not asleep, but I put him back down and he doesn't complain.
Just wondering if this is going to be forming bad habits, and if so, what a good solution is. He is a BIG boy, weighed almost 18 lbs. at 4 months, and is likely 20+ lbs. now. I'm feeding him solids twice a day, but that doesn't seem to make any difference in the amount of night feedings. There have been maybe 4-5 times the past month where he has only needed to be fed once during the night. He also doesn't feed long at all at his 7am feed, unless he's only had one night feeding.
Our EASY goes something like this:

6:30/6:45 Wake-up
7am breastfeed
8:45/-9:15-10:45/11am - sleep (usually sleeps 1.5 to 2 hours; will sometimes wake up during this time and need his paci again)
11am breastfeed
12pm solids
1:15pm-2:45pm - sleep (this nap is usually either just 45 minutes or 1.5 hours, it's usually hit or miss which one it will be)
3pm - eat
4pm - solids
4:45-5:15/5:30 - cat nap (he has the cat nap around 4:15 if he has only had a 45 min. pm nap)
6:30 - bed time routine, breastfeed, and sleeping by 7pm (30 minutes earlier if had a short pm nap)
*He will often wake up between 11:30pm and 12:30am for his first night feeding (I don't dream feed because I'm usually in bed by 9pm). His next NWing will usually be 3-4 hours after he was last fed. Then another 2-3 hours after that.

Any stuffiness? Is he warm enough? Both of those had DS waking and wanting milk... he too would then be fine to go to sleep after a feed - not feeding to sleep.

Any thoughts on moving to 2 naps? All about the 3-2 transition- 5/6 months

He has been really warm the past two nights. I was able to settle him without feeding him at 5:30 this morning. Not sure he's ready for 2 naps... he struggles to do 2.5 hours of A time.

Ok, you know him best. It is this age that most LO's go to 2 naps but for sure there are some who don't til 8 months.

Feverish warm? Just a little warm? Sometimes if LO is a little too warm, he can wake genuinely thirsty rather than hungry IYKWIM.

My DD was 8 months before she went to 2 naps a day. He never really fights that nap, but he has been more difficult to put to bed at night.
He wasn't feverish warm, but it felt like he was sweating, which makes sense that he was thirsty. I guess I'm just wondering how to tell if he really needs two feeds a night. He'll be 6 months tomorrow and has solids now twice a day. His day time feeds are never great, even when we are in a quiet room he's still done in well under 10 minutes.

That could well be a full feed at this age, my DS was done in 5min. Its quite normal for a BF baby to still be having 2 feeds. Are you offering water/milk as a drink with his solids? That made a big difference thirst-wise for us around this age...

Haven't tried adding water, I always thought we had to wait until 6 months of age. But he's there today, so we'll give it a try. Thanks!
