Help regarding soy products please
« on: March 19, 2013, 10:40:56 am »
My lo is 6 months now and is on neocate milk because of suspected cows milk protein allergy.
We saw a dietician last week and she was really helpful but you guys have experience with your los.
She told me that I could try soy products to see if lo could tollerate them. I'd love him to be able to eat some form of yoghurts but wonder if I give them to him to try and he does have a reaction. How long would it take for it to get out his system? In your opinions is it worth trying or steering well clear until he's a little older.

I think 50% of LOs with MPI also react to soy.

Is there anything that makes you think she reacts to soy too?

I don't know if I would try soy TBH. Would be interested to see what others think.

I was just coming to ask the same question. My dietician has told me there's a 50% chance he will be intolerant to soy as well as milk/dairy but I will never know unless I add it and see how he is.

I'm not really sure what to do either?

We went to see my lo paed today and he's advised us to wait until he's one. The reason being if you introduce something and he has a reaction it will hinder him growing out of it. So I dont think I'm going to wait. I really dont want him to have this allergy for the rest of his life.
Hope this helps anyone else asking the same question.
