Question. So if he's not crying or screaming from the gate but boy laying in bed or sleeping do I just leave him be?

Yep. Just like if he was just playing in a cot, you'd leave him to it. Obviously you want to get as many toys and distractions out of the room as possible!

So he screamed Or cried for 45min with us going down to his room and trying WI WO at the gate. But he refused to get back into bed he just stood at the gate screaming. He kept asking for milk but this has been one of his stall tactics as of late and DH and I agreed that we wouldn't give in to those schansgans anymore. Sticking with the gate and being as consistent as possible.

After nearly 45min of battling with him I think he either finally got the point or just became to tired to fight anymore that he finally listened to DH and climbed back into bed. He then cried/screamed/mantra cried for about 10 more min the fell asleep. I have just gone in to cover him with blankets now that he is asleep.

So I'm not sure yet if the gate idea is any better as the refusals before  lasted the same length of time but no screaming was involved. DH is gonna use it again at nap time tomorriw and we will keep him sleeping for 2 hours until we feel he has caught up for weeks of OT then maybe yet capping his nap 15min as I truly believe he is LSNs.

Will update daily in hopes it gets easier eveyday. Oh and will he eventually learn to cover himself with blankets or is it ok that he falls asleep without them?

I think this way will get him to eventually stay in his bed though, as he's not coming out and just being put back, yk.  There's no incentive and he's having to do the work himself, so it's more of a learning process, hence the screaming.

Does he have a cup of water in his room that you can offer instead of milk?  I think it's fine that he falls asleep uncovered.  You can dress him warmer if needed, or just go back and cover him like you did after he falls asleep.  And of course, like Anna did, eventually teach him to cover himself.

(((Hugs))) MM, I think you have a good plan.

Well the second night he went to bed no problem.... but DH didnt put the gate up.ERG I wish he would stick to things, so after a short argument he wont be doing that again.

Yesterdays nap was a 15min screamfest. I only went down to him once, as I figure its just a tantrum and the more I go down and try to calm him Im just feeding the tantrum.

Last night we had some late night company so he screamed/cried or called out for mommy or daddy for about 35 min before he gave up as once again I only went down once and DH only went down once. He was asleep 40min after we started BT.

Todays nap was no screaming at all with the gate up. So fingers crossed that we are over the worst of it. However we are still having 1-2 NWs. I still think due to OT. But I have a hard time letting him scream ITMOTN so I have been telling him to climb back in bed then when his back is turned I climb over the gate, tuck him in then I am able to walk back out and close the door. I would like to now have to do this but I also dont want to press my luck. Thoughts or suggestions for the NWs?

I'd give it a little bit of time still, esp if you think they're OT related.  I think you mentioned he was teething canines as well?  Do meds help the NW at all?

It sounds to me like you're dealing with it just fine and he's settling better for you, which is a step in the right direction. :)
