am I screwing this up?
« on: April 02, 2013, 14:02:31 pm »
So dd is 19 days old.  For the first 9 days after the hospital we were feeding every 3 hrs round the clock as she has dropped too much weight and the ped  was concerned.  At the 9 day check she had gained 9 ounces and was not jaundice anymore so ped was happy.  We continued the round the clock feeding till about 2 days ago.  The first night we fed at 6:30 put her to bed and she woke at 11 and 3am by herself and we fed her.  Last night she was fed at 6:30 and slept till 12:30 then went back to sleep and woke at 2 (I resettled) and then she woke at 3:30 ( I was going to feed her b/c it had been 3 hours since last feed) I gave her her pacifier just so I could warm things and the next thing I know she's asleep!  So I waited to see if she would wake up and she didn't wake up again till 5:15!  I fed her then b/c she was not having it lol and then she slept till 8.  Now to be honest the whole 8 am thing is convient for our family but did I make a mistake by letting her sleep and not feeding her?  She is soooo different then dd1 who screamed ALLL night.  This little girl is so relaxed its kind of scary lol.  So did I screw up or do I just keep going by her cues at night? During the day we wake to feed every 3 hours and she is more of and AEASY little girl at the moment.

We were told that as soon as weight gain was under control to let her sleep as much as she wanted at night. If you get a good stretch in count your blessings and enjoy the rest;)

I'd say you're pretty lucky to get a 6hr stretch at night!  DD2 has been fussing all night until 11pm or12pm just wanting us to feed her nonstop!  Kinda jealous right now ;)

lol Tink please don't be jealous dd1 was like that and she could scream the house down!  We feel like we are waiting for the other shoe to drop as this one is so mellow that we are kind of worried lol.  Right now she is in the pack and play in our living room while the tv is on, the cat freaks out and dd1 plays and she is asleep!  I'm hoping it keeps up but I'm kind of worried I'm doing something wrong lol.

If she's gaining nicely be happy ;-)
Oscar did 7,10,1,4,6,8,11,2,5,7
Emma did 7,10,1,4,7,9,11,3,7 and it was BRILL. She was STTN with DF by 10 weeks. They do exist!

Okay so i jinxed myself she was up every 3/4 hours last night and of course it was dh first night back at work lol.  Today she has slept alot.  We have tried to keep her up but she just keeps falling asleep lol.  We've been waking her every 3 hrs to feed though and she is taking a full 3 ounces.  She finally pooped (she hadn't pooped at all yesterday but the day before she was a poop machine)  I so don't remember this stage with dd1 as she screamed ALLL the time and I was already having another surgery at this stage of the game.  Don't remember feeling this lost lol.

It's prob just a GS and things will go back to normal in a few days. My DD is just as you are describing yours, I swear she slept through the first two months of her life. She made up for it later with nap problems:) all in all, though, she is a a really relaxed and easy angel baby...mostly!

Okay so I'm still here and seriously ALLL this kid does is eat and sleep!  I fed at 7:15 and she was up until about 8:15 when we did the school run.  She slept till 10:30 when I woke her up to eat and was up till maybe 11:05 and then fell asleep during school run.  She is still asleep and I will be waking her at 1:30 to eat again and hoping to keep her up till 2:15 maybe 2:30?  Last night it took forever to settle for bedtime and b/c she cried so much she was up at 9:30 to eat.  She then slept till 2am when I fed her and she was up on and off from 6 am on.  Is this normal?  She is 3 weeks and 4 days and gaining weight well so I dunno if I'm doing right or what.

congratulations on such an easy baby!
I'm jealous :)

that's what I was told that my baby is going to sleep and eat, "it's so easy"!!
yeah, right!
it's funny when you say you went to check up on her when sleeping too long.
when my DD sleeps longer then the usual 1 cycle (1h) I go and check up if she's breathing :)))
