Unsure where to go from here.
« on: April 09, 2013, 09:38:35 am »
Hi ladies, I've posted this here as I'm not really sure where its most appropriate but I think its an EASY tweak thats needed. Isaac is nearly 8 months now and has been on 3hr awake times with x2 1.5hr naps per day and a 7-7 routine, however he's started waking at 5am (will normally go back off for up to an hour with the dummy) and then wants to start his day at 6am. I know that this is reasonable as its an 11hr night but I'd love to have wake ups closer to 7am even if it means pushing things on a bit and having a later bedtime. I'm just not sure how to go about it? Would I need to push awake times and cap naps a little? Or just stretch awake times? It's tricky because apart from the wake up time, everything else is perfect and I have to wake him from both naps.

Here's a typical day:

6-7am - wake up (never get him up until 7am regardless of wake up)
10-11:30am - first nap
2:30-4pm - second nap
7pm - bedtime

Can anyone help? x

I would try pushing his second nap later by 15 mins and move BT later by the same amount as well.

You could also consider wake to sleep if it is always 5am that he wakes.

Do you think it is the dummy he is waking for?

Thanks for getting back to me Ali :)

So second nap beginning at 2:45pm and still ending at 4pm? Then bedtime for 7:15pm? Do I leave that first nap and activity time the same? I'm not sure if its the dummy, he's just starting to put it in himself so hopefully if it is that then he'll pop it in if he wants it. I don't mind the dummy run so much, its the early mornings lol.

I would probably leave the morning nap as it is while she is waking early as that A is already quite long. I wouldn't shorten the pm nap just yet no so let her sleep until 4.15 and then BT at 7.15. After 3 days she will probably be used to that and then you can extend the last A time by 15 mins and have BT at 7.30. Hopefully she will start waking that bit later. What do you think?
