Routine needed for 15 month old
« on: April 14, 2013, 05:36:07 am »
Hi ladies,

Dd is 15 months. BW routine since about one month but with Ds and being soooo tired I have t followed through with NWs as I should have. :( She went to one nap about a month ago. Then she got sick, we had to get our house ready to sell which meant long days and she is overtired. She has never actually slept more than an 8 hour stretch but at the moment is waking about 3 hours into the night, then 2 or 3 more times. She usually gets up for the day about 7:00. She typically falls asleep in the car on the way home from picking up Ds from preschool then I'm not sure how long it should be until bed. Right now it's typically 5.5 or even 6 until she is asleep. Life has gotten in the way of her having an early bedtime but it needs to be a priority again so we can all get some much needed sleep!

I'm thinking
7 am wake up
11:45 asleep in the car Monday-thurs
Then 4.5 hours activity time until wind down for night and asleep after about 4:45 Activity time.

She is getting canines but I really think the OT is affecting her.

Thanks

(((Hugs))) she does sound OT, not nice at all for anyone.

When you say 11.45 in the car for a nap, how long will she nap?

In the first instance, to sort the OT, it might be worth considering allowing her to have longer naps (if she naps well?) with normsal BT to give her a chance to catch up. So in the 1st instance, maybe something like:

WU: 7am
Nap: 11.45 (for up to 3h)
BT:7pm

And then when the OT's dealt with reduce the nap if needs be depending on your LOs SN?

What do you think?

Thanks for replying.

She usually sleeps anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours. Except on Fridays when we have to get her up to go to a group for Ds at 1:00 we always let her sleep until she wakes.

With those nap lengths 7 pm is a really long a time that doesn't seem to work. She woke at 6 this morning, finally gave up at 6:40. She was up every 3 hours last night, for 1.5 hrs at one of them. I'm guessing she will be exhausted by 10 so this is looking like a possible two nap day-which always results in a super long day but perhaps we should just run with it today. What do you think?

I always find a super long day, even with 2naps, just makes the OT worse for us. You could try a little trick that pretty much always works for us - cap nap at around 9.30 for 20mins max and then normal nap at the usual time and BT more than 13h after WU.

So with today's WU, the day would look like this:

WU: 6am
Car nap:9.30-9.50
Nap : 11.45 (for the usual time)
BT: 7pm (at the latest -earlier if you think she needs it)

I find with my DD, 2/3days fixes the OT but if the OTs been building for a while it may take longer. You'll need to just keep a a close eye to avoid then getting into an OT/UT situation iykwim?

:)
