28 mo sleep issues
« on: April 16, 2013, 13:03:30 pm »
Hi all,

Looking for some inspiration. Ds has adopted some really bad habits (as much our fault as his). He has a 5 mo little sister and in the last ww months we have pretty much gone with the flow. Now I'd like to try and start tacking some of the bad habits.

1. Night wakings - however when he wakes he is terribly cranky (not normally like this) and can roar the house down to get what he wants (if I come into him he wants daddy and vice versa). So far we give in to prevent him from waking is little sister.

2. Early wakings (however this is the same time as his sister and so may just be his wake up time now?). He used be very very cranky first thing in the morning but that seems to be better now.

3. I also need to work on a better wind down routine for him. I would ideally like to work towards a combined routine so that Dh and i can be with both kids as we do wind down for bedtime together.

Anyway my big problem is the NWs - am reading through all the boards here but would love to know if anyone has any ideas. Thanks.

Hi there

Can you run some white noise (mp3 track, radio tuned to static, fan turned to the wall) in the baby's room so that DS is less likely to wake her in the middle of the night? Do you think he is overtired? Does he still nap (when/how long)?

When he wakes at night, what happens? How do you settle him back to sleep? Is he still in a cot or in a big boy bed now?
