DS wears a helmet for both. Apart from the fact he spends most of his time looking the other way whilst he's riding/scooting - one of my good friends has had his life saved by a helmet on not one but TWO different occasions so we wear helmets or don't ride around here.

Yup huge believer in helmets.  I don't like my hear messed up and feel like a loser, but so be it. If you are on wheels and roads with no protection around you, go for it. Like I said, I am a scooterer, and have had a couple close calls myself.

My ds also wears a helmet when he is on the back of my bike - as far as I am concerned he is just as vulnerable in a child seat as on a bike.

definitely - DS had Dd on the back of the bike when she was about 2 1/2, and some guy in an SUV pulled too far into the intersection at a red light, so he threw it in reverse and stomped on the gas. He slammed right into them and totally wrote off DH's bike. The guy didn't even wait to check if anyone was hurt  - just yelled sorry out his window and drove off. DD's helmet was badly cracked and I think she had a headache as well, but the hospital just said to watch her for signs of concussion, but she was okay, thank goodness.

Helmets for both here - he's faster on the scooter at the moment.

We got ours from halfords!

Got dd's from B&Q (random) but I don't rate it at all, we got it cos it was Tinkerbell and she loved it ::) but the shape is rubbish and she finds it uncomfortable, we are going to get her a new one (and dd2 one)
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&storeId=10001&productId=889281&categoryId=228869&langId=-1 this is the shape of her one but I'm going to look for something more spherical iykwim, that comes further down towards the ears.

This too.   We all helmet wearers, my kids don't know any different, so it's totally natural for them.

We got A & E's helmets from micro scooter and they come up really big so they're still wearing their old ones.

What a terrible story!  And what an absolute jerk.

I started cycle commuting in the world before cycle helmets for ordinary joes so it really isn't natural to me, ykwim.   And there's a debate on the use of helmets as a road safety device -  research shows motorists driving closer to a cyclist wearing a helmet than to a cyclist not wearing one - very strange. But that really is in the realm of theoretical discussion when thinking of the precious little people.

I like these: the question is what colour!
