1 year old BF in early morning
« on: April 24, 2013, 08:07:22 am »
MY DD is 1yr old.  She now BF twice a day - early morning and BT.  I don't mind feeding her twice a day.  However, she has been waking up at 5am every morning for a feed and seldom go back to sleep.  She used to sleep for another 1 or 2 hrs if I fed her at 5am, but it seldom happens now.  I am aware that DD is in 2-1 transition for her nap.  However, I wonder whether the 5am waking is habitual or real hunger.  When I fed her at 5am, she will be on my breast for quite a while (15mins or more).  I guess that's for comforting besides eating. Ideally, I would like to feed her at 7am instead of 5am.  Will the 5am feed drop automatically if I don't wean it?

I had to wean both of mine from the early morning feed although they were going back to sleep after it. I weaned one at 12.5mo and the other at 15mo.

If she isn't going back to sleep I would be tempted to think it is routine related rather than hunger.
