EW and first nap
« on: April 25, 2013, 14:38:19 pm »
Hello,

When you have EW, but get babe back to sleep, how do you adjust first nap?

We are having nap troubles anyways, but here's what is happening today:

dd2 (almost 12 weeks) woke at about 5:50 (normal WU 6:45-7:30) - I let her make her noises and fuss about 20m, then nursed her to get her to go back down as if it were a NW (maybe this was the beginning of the end - too late in the AM to do this perhaps?) She took an okay feed, although I don't think she woke from hunger, and fell asleep nursing - I put her back in the bassinet, she woke, fussed and so I picked her up and did shhpat until she melted on my shoulder, put her back down and she slept another 40m allowing me to get dd1 up and ready for the day. Then dd2 was up her normal A and seemed to settle same as always for nap, I put her down, and she is still settling, I've gone in to pat once, and we are now at 1h55 A (I put her down at 1h22). What did I do wrong? Is she thinking that EW and resettling was her first nap and now we are done for the day? Should I have capped that first A a bit? BLARGH! When we have a poor first nap we never seem to recover - here's to a looooooong day of short naps.  ::) Lucky for her she's so adorable...

Lucky for her she's so adorable...

This is the saving grace for most of them at one time or another!

And yes, she likely treated the resettle as nap #1.  Been there... never really figured out how to recover though.  Maybe try the reduced A time since her morning was broken sleep?
