Success stories for one nap at 12 months!!!
« on: April 26, 2013, 09:54:47 am »
Hello all, we have been doing set nap at 12  and set BT at 1900 for the past 10 days. My LO is exhausted and I feel horrible. I would love to hear success stories because I am slowly losing trust in my judgement.... :-[

My ds2 was on one nap at 11 mos. It didn't take him long to adjust. What I would do while he was getting used to it was go for walks in the morning and keep activities low key. He was able to relax or even doze in the stroller to help get us through.

You didn't find dozing ruined the nap? I have been hesitant to take him out most mornings I the stroller as I am afraid he will fall asleep...

Not for him, he would still nap in the afternoon. I don't think he really slept in the stroller, but it would help get through the long A times. Are you putting him to bed early?

We have set BT of 1900. Is that not early enough you think?

I personally don't go earlier than 7pm but I know a lot of people do super early bedtimes to avoid OT.  I do think a 6:30pm bedtime is worth a shot if he is getting really tired.

Not on much these days just popped on to catch up saw your post and thought I'd add - our LO is just 17 months and has been on 1 nap since 12 months, which is now down to only 1.5 hrs most days....

We were doing 7pm BT until recently when she was having trouble falling asleep and waking early so we've bumped it to 7.30..... She's much lower sleep needs than her brother....occasionally she'll throw a longer nap, but also throws in 1 hr 15s and still is going strong at BT (nickname the Duracell Bunny!)

Can't remember how we got there, but you're not alone.....! It's liberating tbh as it's only 1 nap to stress about not 2!!

Little man has been on 1 nap (consistently) since 13 months. The only time we were able to do an EBT was during 2-1 transition as at any other time he would not tack onto night sleep so we would get an EW (must have been REALLY shattered!!) So definately worth a shot, maybe 6:30? Alternatively could you throw in the occassional 2 nap day to let him catch up? We did that and then one day I realised we hadn't done a 2 nap day in a while and that was it, transition done (wasn't quite that simple but you get the idea!). Hugs, 2-1 was rough!

My DS is 15 months old and we have been on one nap for the past month.  He has always been a lousy day sleeper but great night sleeper.  One nap has definitely helped his day sleep settle down.  Our EASY is a bit like this at the moment:

WU:  6:30/7
Set nap 11:45 (day 3 now with this time)
BT:  6:00 (if he wakes before 1pm and then between 6:30/7 if closer to 1:30/2)

We have done quite a few 6pm BTs in the past few weeks and has definitely helped him.  I would definitely recommend an early BT than 7:00 - I was scared we would get EWs (again) or he wouldn't settle but if anything it has helped him tack on and he never used to until now.

I was also a bit worried about the pram but I make sure he is upright, so he can look around and make sure I'm home by 10:30.  I think the fresh air revitalises him a bit (as well as me).
