I know you've already made your mind up now, but I was going to say just as pps. Social norms etc and just do it. When I've been away I've found rice, noodles, meat, fish etc for breakfast the norm and for me they are a much more welcome breakfast too. I can really only face cereal in the evening when I shouldn't be eating anything!
I made either omelet or sausages for DS almost every morning for months (although we are in a muesli phase right now) because it was the only time of day he would accept protein. I've only gone back to muesli because he has increased his protein intake at dinner a little.
