What was he eating before?  If he was previously taking foods by spoon and now refuses it, that is very normal for this age.  You can try offering more finger foods.

This is very common for this age.  I would give the spoon a break for awhile and focus on introducing finger foods.  You may find that in a month or two he'll be interested in the spoon again.  This just happened with my DD, at 9mos she started refusing the spoon but is now taking it again at 11 months.  Also you can try loading the spoon and giving it to him to feed himself.  The other things I have found is she likes those pouches that she can suck the purees out of, so I keep some of those handy for times when I need something in a pinch.  :)
