Quick help for today if anyone can
« on: June 02, 2013, 12:09:29 pm »
J is nearly 17 months but def hit 18 month regression in last 2-3 weeks, language explosion and lots of silliness at BT, some at nap time.  No teething at present, 4 canines through a couple of weeks ago.

Rough routine is

WU 6.30/7
Nap 12 wake at 2.5h if necessary (rare) - 3 days a week nap is around an hour max at nursery, often shorter.  At home around 1h40-2h15 is typical.
BT 6.30/7

Today we were a bit late back for nap and she clearly got a second wind and has just now settled at 1pm.  How long would you let her sleep and what time BT?

I would cap at 2 hrs (if you need to) and still aim for bed around 7 - hopefully with the long morning she'll still be ready for it. Whenever F has a late nap she's mighty grumpy if I wake her too soon as she'sl more tired than usual from the long morning.

I'd let her sleep for 2 hours max too then bedtime for 7 or even a bit earlier if she seems tired!

Thanks Nuala and Laura :)  She's woken at just under an hour obviously still tired, will see if she'll resettle.  If not, as close to 6.30pm as she can manage?

Jessmum46, just saw how you mentioned your DD naps 1 hr max at daycare 3 days a week - I have the same problem - 50-1hr are good naps at daycare.  My DS has been going now for 6 months and it doesn't seem to be improving.  He is 16 months old now.  He does catch up on the two days he is at home on sleep for his nap.  Just wondering have you noticed an improvement in OT because at the moment 3 days a week its a real problem once I pick him up its a terrible couple of hours till bed time.  I worry that the lack of sleep will affect his developmentally.

Aww, it's rubbish isn't it?  (((Hugs))).  J is generally handling OT better as she gets older, but is still very tired on nursery days.  When I pick her up we keep things as low-key as we can, often a cuddle and read a book or watch Peppa Pig ::) and then do BT on the earlier side.  We try to keep to a 12h day on nursery days, and throw in a super-EBT occasionally if she does a ridiculously short nap or OT seems to be creeping in.  How are your days spread?  We do Mon, Weds, Thurs so she usually manages to catch up over the weekend.  The lack of consistency is tricky though, I haven't yet worked out what her optimum nap length on days at home is to avoid BT silliness!!

Glad the night went well, Katherine! Hugs Tracy, so glad I haven't had to cope with daycare naps, it must be a nightmare.

Thanks for the reply Katherine, helps my anxiety about the whole issue.  We are doing the same and our day care days are Mon, Tue and Fri so will catch up Wed, Fri and the weekend.  Its just hard to watch when he's tired and at the moment has a cold and molars and canine teeth coming thru.  He is on one nap and we are not 11:45am at home now but they keep putting him down at day care at 12:15 ish (set lunch and set nap time) and he's just not quite there yet.  Just feel like we are catching up all the time!!!
