What age to move from 4 to 3 milk feeds?
« on: June 21, 2013, 04:25:23 am »
Can someone please remind me when we are likely to transition from 4 to 3 BFs/day. My DD is my 3rd child but I can't remember when we moved from 4 to 3 BFs the last time.

Thank you

For us it was when we dropped down to one nap because she always wanted milk when she woke in the am, after her nap and before BT.

We dropped to 3 regular feeds shortly before 13 months - but still had the occasional extra feed for quite a while after that. I believe WHO recs are to keep 4 milk feeds until one year.

That's what we're generally saying :)  So you've got a little while yet.

Mine were 12.5 and 15mo and it was when we moved to one nap. I think some people drop down sooner if LO is eating a varied solids diet and not so interested in one of the midday feeds. But milk is the most important food for LOs under 12mo.
