Dream feed wake ups at almost 5 months, do i keep it?
« on: June 27, 2013, 15:50:17 pm »
Dear wonderfull mothers

My DS is almos 5 months i have been DF for about 2 weeks now, and at the begining it went great, now he many times wakes up during DF or gets his diaper soiled so when i change him then he is fully up and it takes 20 to 30 min to gte back to sleep. On the plus side he does not wakr up to eat in the middle of the night, he still wakes up when he ate before but i pat/shush and goes back fasta to sleep. Should i keep doing DF?

Personally, I would stop and just feed in the night if needs be.  5 months is quite late to be introducing a DF so it could be that it's disrupting his sleep more than helping, but the choice is obviously yours.

I would stop too, it doesn't seem like you're getting much benefit out of it?  I found the dream feed disrupted dd more than it helped too (although she was younger than your ds), so I stopped it after only about a week and just fed her when she woke naturally until she didnt need NFs any more

I started the DF for my DS at 5/5.5 months also to move a NF to a DF. It took almost 2 weeks to stop him from waking up at his normal NF time (first he was waking up later in the night, but gradually moved back to waking at his old NF time). After around 2 weeks of trying, we were able to stop the NW.

DS would wake up when I picked him up to feed, but he would go right back to sleep when I finished. He didn't soil his diaper, so I'm not sure how that will effect things.
