Confused about breakfast time at 4 months
« on: July 16, 2013, 09:13:59 am »
My 4 month old still wakes for a night feed at around 4 or 5am. He then goes back to sleep (sometimes til about 8am) but I'm confused as to when to give him his first day feed. He's on a 4 hour routine and I find that if he feeds at 5 then he won't feed again until 9 and then his next feed is slap-bang in the middle of his long nap at lunchtime.

So should I be waking him and giving him his breakfast feed at a certain time each day so that we stick to roughly the same feeding routine? Or should I be leaving him til 4 hours after his early morning feed?

I'm struggling to maintain EASY as his feeds always seem to end up at the end of the A rather than at the beginning as everything revolves around the time of the early morning feed.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

We had that too:)
From what I've read here it looks like lots of babies go through this.

We just gave the breakfast feed when DD wanted and then a little top-up feed before her nap (making sure not to feed to sleep ofc). That way she didn't wake early from hunger. In fact, if I remember correctly we went a good while with a SEAEAS routine. It all sorted itself out when we introduced solids at 6mo.

I would just feed in WU unless she won't take it and the. Just feed a bit later and don't worry too much aout the I in as long as she has 4 feeds spread reasonably evenly.
