Last night when he woke at 3.30am he was playing around but after 30mins of pd he went to sleep by himself and there was hardly no crying.
Remember though, you really don't want to be doing PD unless he needs your help (i.e. he's crying).  If he's just awake and playing around, you need to leave him to it or you are still a prop.

I went to put him down for a nap around 11 n hecwas hysterical n would not settle and was stood up in his cot crying - not for long though..he then was sick and wouldn't sleep at all n then finally slept at 12.30. He just woke mid nap n was again hysterical n wouldn't settle in his cot. I then pickef him up n when I walked towards the crib he would start crying again and then I had to wait until he was more asleep to put him down.
Is this typical behaviour of going through the process of sleep training?
I would say no, not really typical, although all LOs are different.  It sounds to me more like he's ill or teething.  Any chance of that?
