Yes so ha with the tiredness to think straight. I would use the go to get near the door and then maybe use the leaving for a short while to get out of the room.  Are you near the door yet?

Well her room is tiny so not far to go to the door! It's my husband doing the bedtimes as evenings are the baby's fussiest time.

Do you think given her age we should be making the gradual withdrawal less gradual?!

Hi Amy

Just replied to your post on my thread. Yes I think making bigger steps is important. That's what Im learning with M. Sleep deprivation is horrendous and it's so tough sticking to a clear plan when your head is all foggy with tiredness. DH needs to get right next to the door I think. As so as he's done that he needs to get out. We're making that step tomorrow night and Im apprehensive as its a big step but one we really need to make.
Is she still awake now?

She's actually asleep... Hubby has just come downstairs. Took less than an hour despite an hour's nap today. Will see what the rest of the night brings!!

Will have a chat about the big step. I know he sits at the head end of her bed (furthest from door) so will get him to sit the other end (right next to door) tomorrow and see how we go I think.

Yes I think at this age you can be less gradual than for a baby. She understands you are coming back and do not disappear when you leave the room. Obviously you have to go at a pace that doesn't panic her her but it doesn't have to be mm.
Sme kids like to see the chair outside that dh will sit on in the hall even if it is around the corner.

Good luck.

We are getting nowhere fast :-( bedtime is getting longer... Been trying early bedtime which has worked on the odd night but been 3.5 hours tonight and she's not letting up, its absurdly ridiculous. I am convinced she is overstimulated from nursery but no idea how to go about helping her. We've done long wind down routine tonight, no tv etc... Nothing seems to make any difference to her.

Don't know what to do any more :-(
