13mth trouble settling in cot - prefers pram!
« on: August 01, 2013, 12:52:15 pm »
Hi all

My little girl is 13months old and we've been struggling the last month in settling her and then resettling her when she wakens in the night.  Since she has learned to sit up n stand up in her cot she won't lie down, cries when you put her down, Ive tried putting her down repeatedly, patting her, sitting in the room.  some nights - she repeatedly wakes up 3.30-4.00 most mornings for a drink of water and then cant resettle her in her cot- after up to 1.5hrs I end up putting her into her pram. She used to go down awake in her cot then settle her self she seems to have lost the ability to self settle

She prefers sleeping in her pram - she is snug in there and even with no movement she prefers it there I have made her cot as cosy as possible - rolled up towels at her sides to make her as snug as possible, raised the mattress with a pillow under it all to mimic the pram.  She has a lovey, a soother.

I am at my wits end - the repeated waking overnight and hard to settle is difficult for us all and hard to watch her not settling and being at a loss as to what to do.  I also want her to sleep in her cot and not her pram overnight - although she does sleep in her pram for naps as she is at her childminders 3 days a week.

Please help
Lorna

Hi there. Did you DD sleep independently before? Either way, you might need to do some sleep training to help her learn/relearn to self settle, but the method that will be most appropriate will be different depending on how well she has settled in the past.

Does the Childminder have a cot for her to nap in during the day? Maybe when she's at home you could try for one nap each day plus night sleep in her cot?

What is your daily EASY like? Long early morning wakings for us were often a sign of UT, possibly as a result of needing to drop a nap.

What do you think?
