A free flow sippy without a valve and with a hard spout was best for my LOs and they could use it easily very early on (6-7mo) without help. They did also do well with a straw sippy but sucking is bad for teeth so fre flow is better from that point of view.

Oh they also did well with an open cup. Doidy make a good one.

mine did well with a soft spout valve from 7mo but would only drink water or cold BM from it.

Mine did well with a soft spout one too - the action seemed similar to breastfeeding.

I find with the soft spout ones they can just chew it or suck it and that doesn't transfer well to a breast!

Ours was a boots one! It has a valve they have to suck the milk through into the soft spout.

doidy cups up worked well here....she used to just chew any other ones i tried in the beginning!

Straws worked the best here for ds, the soft spout sippy worked for dd2, and the harder spout sippy worked for dd1.
