Feeding advice
« on: August 04, 2013, 10:02:55 am »
Hi all, my baby is 6 days old but feeding every two hours and sometimes more but only lasting about 10 mins a feed. Do you think this is enough? I'm worrying he is just using me for comfort. Thank you.

Congratulations on your new baby and welcome!

At 6 days old, that's pretty good!  Babies like to feed frequently to start with.  You may find that feeds get a little longer (or even shorter!) as time goes on.
Are you offering both breasts at each feed?

Sounds pretty normal to me.

Sorry to pop in to this conversation but thank you for asking this question Tallulahc!  My little one is 9 days old and I was wondering the same thing.  I'm so preoccupied with making sure he's getting enough food, I'm a bit of a worry wart!  Sometimes he eats for 25 minutes and then today it's been all short feeds, 10-15minutes.  Sometimes I wish he was clear so I could be sure!

If he is having plenty of wet nappies and growing then I'm sure it is just fine.
