Two great naps! Only you can decide what's best for him after a short am nap. I guess I just found as o settled in to set naps there was less chance of him short napping anyway and you don't want to put him down too early in the afternoon and then have him short nap again ?? Jmo tho

Laura I agree, I have pd at like 1pm after a bust am and ended up all done by 1.40 ::) there is no way he will take a 3rd nap (and tbh it messes him up more at this age) and he's OT by EBT.
I know he can cope from 2.30-6 (just) so maybe I do the second nap at 2 if am is a bust.

Night not great. And we were a bit naughty, I think he is teething really heavily so we cuddled him at the 2 NW (11 30 and 5.30) he slept in too, I woke at 7.30 ish.

We are a lot better than what we were though. :D I'm going to work on pushing the first A as I know he can do it (he was on these As at 6-8 mths) but this bug and teeth has pushed him back.

I think a little bit of apop is fine if he's teething.

((((hugs)))) and hoping you get a good day.

He's pulling a 1.5 or longer consistently ATM after a 3.5 hr first A. So for now (even though I know it's low) I'm sticking with it, and doing the pm length based on his am nap WU.
Yesterday we had a bday to go to so DH APOPed the CN a little late at my mums
WU 7.15
Nap 10.40-12.20
CN 4.10-4.40
BT 7.15 no night feeds but a NW at 12ish.

We're also getting ENW which he SS most the time. We have always had them on and off I dont think they are OT but maybe wind or reflux as he is only 1/2 awake when I do go in and he sounds really uncomfortable. A bit of gripe water usually helps, and often a bit of wind comes up. Sometimes I can smell acid.  No idea what to do other than ride it out??? I can not get the wind up at BT :-\

This sounds like a good plan and when it goes wonky (cos doesn't it always ;) !!) you can push the morning nap back a bit

If he's ss then that's gotta be a good thing :)

Hello :)

here are my thoughts: set naps were a must here past 6 months of age or things got wacky fast so I have loads of experience with using them... I never allowed more than 15 mins variance in the time I put down for naps (15 before or 15 late).. Bedtime was a 30 min window.  Anything more and short naps/OT would get crazy.  Makes sense really as you do need to set their body clock... and it can take a couple of weeks for naps to level out!  You know, just in time for them to need a change in times ::)

I found that SS came back and was great once I got the naps on track!

Sounds like you are headed in the right direction now :)

Hey kara.
Things are so much better now...not perfect, but I can't expect that with teething, food issues and OS from his brother all day ;)

We seem to have fallen into this
WU 6.30-7
Nap 10-10.30 usually for 1.5hrs
CN 3-3.30 depending on am length and I cap ths one so he is up by 4-4.15 (if really ing am nap and he goes down at 3.45 the I cap at 4.15 for example)
BT 7-7.30

WE are getting NW where he settles himself after BT. Usually 1 after an hour sometimes more .. But the one time I got wind up he did t do this and only did 1 quick NW at 2am. :-\
Last night was our best. No NW at all till 10.40 then none till morning :D

I 'think' we're not really handling the NW that well. We PU and give a cuddle and then pd. he seems to just want a cuddle or some teething gel. I'm waiting till were past this weekend to tackle it if at all as right now it's bliss compared to before! What do you think re the NW? - I'm certain it's not OT. He is getting lots of sleep and well distributed As. He isn't behaving tired either.

I would be willing to bet that the NWing is the tiniest bit of UT to be honest... Tom is a lower sleep needs kidlet and will be headed into the gross part of the 2-1 now for sure... Alexandra was much the same at this age.. random NWing that she generally resettled herself in a couple mins or just needed a firm hand to help her resettle...

They just get to that place where they still very much need the two naps but it's almost too much sleep, KWIM?  Hang tight, it's only gonna last a month or two ;)

Thanks....I think your right...today (even though he is teething a bit and has a cold) he was unsettled for both naps (after my announcement of great napping ::) ) so ill push a little starting tomorrow.

He's coming out of the 10 mth WW too thank goodness so the clinginess and crankiness is easing. I remember every time Z came out of these he needed an A bump :-\
