You tried the short day route, not good. Then we try the long day route.  Around 1pm nap.  It might be UT.

I dont think he can make it until 1. He is so tired.
What of i watch him after 5hrs and put down when he is tired and then we do a longer pm A???
Or do you think that is a mistake?

I decided to go by his cues and put him down at 1205, 5.5hr A. He was asleep within a minute.

Update
He woke at 1352. 1hr47 nap, strange...
Does it sound ok to put him to bed after 4.5hr A, 1820??

Update 2
Did bt at 1820 was asleep in seconds.

I dont lnow what to do with this guy.
He is either teething or having some stomach issues. We have had 4 very nasty poos today. They were not really watery but very very soft and smelling horrible!! i dont think i could call it diarrhea. He is having a hysterical nw at the moment and last nights was too...
He is having a very hard time resettling...

Haven't read all of your thread but just spotted your last post. Sounds like teething to me.
Had some hysterical nw's with my little man last week and with the nasty poos, had been checking for teeth but couldn't see anything then found a molar has cut through (he only has front 8 teeth so I wasnt expecting a molar)
Anyways, have you medicated for pain?
I think teething can make them unusually tired so might explain you struggling to work out his best sleep routine?

Hope things improve soon
Laura

Hi louis mummy! Yes, this is all with meds! Lo has all 4 1yr molars and he was not that hysterical! The only teeth missing are canines and the 2 bottom teeth next to the middle 2 whig i diybt are causing so much pain, so it must be canines. But, i have seen no difference in his gums for the past 2 weeks or so. Hopefully i will see some change soon!!
How long did it take from hysteria and horrible poos to seeing the tooth cutting??

what do you mean by strange?

Do you mean that he has 2 bottom incisors missing also?

I think its strange that he slept 1hr and 47 min. If a sleep cycle is 45 min then where is 47 from???

Yes he has 4 top front, 2 bottom and 4 molars.

NW was 1915-2015 hysteria i had to get in his bed with him (i fell asleep until 2145 :D)
Woke for the day at 530 with wet clothes like his diaper leaked although it wasn't even close to being full...

So I have net some time looking at my notes from the past month or so and I have noticed a few things

1. We already know that he needs a long A in the morning to get any chance of a good nap. I also think that I have an EWer and have to keep the nap later in the day as not to perpetuate the EW!

2. Most days that had good nights were with long A in AM (6hr+ A) and short PM (3hr45-4hr A depending on nap length)

Today I put down for nap at 1230 which is a long 7hr morning A. I will try to go by my theory to see if it helps.
Yes he is teething, yes we nay have tummy issues, but even if we get NW because of those at least we might get a later morning so I must try it for a few days.

sorry, not much time today.

sleep cycle is a generalisation.  it is not exact.  When he's woken up by external things, like pain, it can happen.

Teething might cause EW, period.  I am not saying that it is a problem that his lower bottom teeth are still not out yet but I thought usually they would come before the molars.  Have you taken him to the dentist (usually not at that age) and perhaps the canines are blocking them and causing pain?

you have done some good observation there.  I hope your plan works.  Teething is tough, though.  Gotta run.  fx

I have not taken him to the dentist but I spoke to the ped about it and he says it doesn't seem like a problem to him. Some babies get their teeth in strange orders. His son got his canines first before any other teeth and looked like a vampire for a few good months until his 8 front teeth came in. He said if he doesn't get those two bottom front teeth by 2 then he should go to the dentist...
