Help With Cluster Feeding & DF approach
« on: August 20, 2013, 01:17:32 am »
My DD is only 2 wks old but we wanted to start a loose easy when she's a month. Right now we are feeding FF every 3 hrs and at night let her go 4 hrs. How do we start the cluster feeding what's considered her last feed of the day before its a CF? We also want to do a DF

Here you go! Cluster & Dreamfeeding FAQ's - Starting, how to do it, stopping & problems

Hopefully all the info you need is there - come back if you have more questions! I will say though that not all babies are cluster feedable or dream feedable, neither of mine were so we just stuck to a 3 hour EASY and fed them in the night when they woke! Some babies won't dream feed when they are so tiny either but will cope with it when they are a bit older so if you try and it doesn't work re-visit it in a few weeks.

Thnx lolly u were so helpful with my DS now he's 2 and is the perfect sleeper since 6 wks old. We want to start DD at 1 mnth on a light easy just trying to refresh my memory of how it all works!
Ok so EAS (loose) would look like this for us.

S:730 am-930am
E:930am-10am
A:10-1030am
S: 1030am-1230pm
E: 1230pm-1pm
A:1-1:30pm
S:130-330pm
E:330-4pm
A:4-430pm
S:430pm-630pm
E:630pm-7 pm if I start CF would that be this feeding so the last feed is technically the 330 pm??
A-7pm wind down change Jammie's
S-
CF at 8 is that ok that it's only hour 1/2 after she ate..
DF 1030 and see how far we go

The idea of the cluster is to tank them up so they may not take a full feeding anyway. On that routine you posted you have a feed at 6.30, so you can either offer a full feed and see if she will take a bit more at 8 (which she may do after a bath) or offer a smaller feed at 6.30 and a full feed at 8pm.

I would go for a full feed at 6.30 and just offer another feed and see how much she takes at 8 in case she gets too tired to feed properly.

I also meant to say congrats on the new baby in my last post - I was pretty sure I remembered helping you before! I'm glad to have helped before and hope I can again! ;D
