BTDT advice to get LO to drink more
« on: August 20, 2013, 16:55:01 pm »
Hi

Not sure where to post this but it is related more to intro of solids and reduction of milk but please move me as necessary?

DS is 11 months and I am really struggling to get him to drink enough water. He has recently dropped (of his own accord) to 2 bottles a day plus milk with breakfast/yoghurt/cheese/custard etc to make the recommended 500ml and is on 3 good meals inc plenty fruit/veg but won't drink enough water and is getting constipated as a result.

He has a sippy cup which he is well able to drink out of and I offer it to him at all meals, afternoon snack and inbetween but will only take sips or refuses.

Any BDTD advice on how to increase water intake?

Honestly I don't think there's much you can do if you have water always available, he'll either drink it or he won't. If you are concerned about hydration you could try offering some extremely diluted juice, but then that does run you into another potential problem of him refusing to drink just straight water.
