I get to write a happy post!!!!!  WU was 5:15 this am but he wasn't crying so I didn't go in.  After 1 hr 10 min of constantly repositioning and trying to fall asleep he slept from 6:23-6:34  ;D.

Then....for his nap today he went down beautifully as he always does.  Slept 11:25-12:25, then woke up crying.  He fussed/mantra cried for 10 min, trying to SS but couldn't so then the angry, mad screaming started.  He was darn furious but I could really tell he wasn't saying "I need you", just "I want you, you usually come when I cry, why aren't you here, I'm mad that you're not, and I'm tired and mad that you're not rocking me back to sleep like you usually do".  Every 5 min or so he'd lie down, still angry, try to fall asleep but couldn't so would stand back up and keep screaming.  But then he stopped!  And after 5 min of rolling around he fell asleep!!! Slept from 1:00-1:50 ;D ;D ;D!  I am beyond thrilled! He woke up so happy from his nap.

What time do you think I should do BT?  6:30 set BT?

Well unfortunately , we didn't have as much success as you :( he mantra
cried and complained for nearly 40 mins then just started chatting and gurgling away.. Wasn't even trying to put himself back to sleep:( I got him up after 1 hour of being awake.. Couldn't have been ut since wu was 5.30 am this morning and nap at 12.
Crazy kid.
I'm telling myself it'll take a while. He's pretty determined....

Thx ladies!  Hopefully things get better and better  :D.  Loafie I'm sorry to hear it didn't go as well for you today but I think I'm pretty "lucky".  Tomorrow could very well go poorly as my DS is a pretty determined guy too ;).  FX for both of us and our DS' though!

Wow.....the happiness continues.  He slept from 6:40-5:40, woke for only 5 min and slept solidly until 7:00  ;D ;D ;D! That's 12 hrs and 20 min of sleep - So....tacking on even though he slept for 1 hr 50 min yesterday!  This boy is finally making up for days and days of lost sleep, this is wonderful. Options for nap:

1) Stick with 11:30 set nap, assuming he's still catching up and is best thing to do to set his body clock and help him get a good nap.
2) Nap 5 hrs after WU (12:00)

Shiv, you've stated before you think in this scenario I should do nap at 12:00.  Do you still think that?

Amazing night. I'd be tempted to go to 12 as I think he'll be UT at 11.30. Or maybe split the difference and try at 11.45?

I was sort of thinking the same thing - perhaps 11:45, but I don't want him to be UT so I'll PD at 11:40 and see when he falls asleep.  It usually takes him 5-10 min so he'll probably fall asleep between 11:45-11:50. Thx for the input Shiv!

Well, I'd say the nap was a success today.  Not in terms of total sleep, but definitely in terms of him clearly learning that he needs to SS himself back to sleep when he wakes up.  Slept 11:50-1:00 (1 hr 10 min).  Fussy cried a bit and stood up but gave up after only a few min of mantra crying (not screaming ;D) and lay back down.  For the next 45 min he would go from lying down trying to sleep for 1-4 min, then rolling around, then sitting/standing and crying a bit but then would lie back down and try to fall asleep again.  He did this several times and a few times I thought just maybe he'd fallen back asleep but then he'd roll or get back up again.  At 1:45 he gave up, though and then started to angry scream...but he tried for 45 min on his own! He was clearly tired and wanted more sleep but couldn't quite get there today.  But he clearly knew that I wasn't going to come in and rock him.  I can't believe he's learning so quickly!

I think I'll still go for 6:30 BT even though he only slept for 1 hr 10 min.  I figure he got rest in that 45 min of trying to sleep and since he woke at 7:00 I think I should stick with 6:30 instead of 6:00 EBT.  Agree?

Such progress! :) well done both of you. I was leaning towards saying stick with 11.30 before but YK, I think you and shiv were right in that after a great night he prob needs the 5 hrs. Sounds like he was a touch UT. :-*
