Please help!
« on: September 01, 2013, 04:01:23 am »
My14mo ds has started experiencing separation anxiety.  He just got over a rough two week cold, is being intergrated into daycare (I had to get him early the last day because he wouldn't eat/sleep or stop crying).  Now he wakes during the night and cries for me to hold him,  I sit inthe room with him until he falls asleep and shush as needed(is that wrong?). I've also put my Hand on his chest so he knows I'm there. Don't know what to do....please help!

Hugs. My almost 3 yr old had the exact same thing happen re sick, and daycare. For us it was mainly a combo of to from sickness and OS from daycare, maybe with a developmental component too.

Prior to this was he an independent sleeper? Are you sure he is well now ie no ear infections?
Can you post your EAS? X

He was a good sleeper, may have woken on occasion, but readjustment and he'd drift back to sleep.

Our routine is asfollows (has been wonky lately due to cold)

Wake 6-6:30am
E 6:30-7
S 9-9:30
E11am
E1:30
S1:30-2pm
E5pm
Bath bottle bed 7pm

He's done well on thisroutine up until last week

He usually sleeps for 1-1.5hrs in the am and 40 mins in the pm. Occasionally the times flip, so short nap in Amanda longer nap in afternoon.

The routine looks good, but I would try to push the first A time out closer to 3.5 hrs if you can. Yu may need to cap the pm nap at 30 mins after a solid am nap so he is tired enough for a good nights sleep.

14 mths is a developmental leap too, so could definitely be a bit of SA. Given he has been an independent sleeper before, if he is well you can do Wi/wo, or otherwise GW....with GW your first step is to have him fall asleep in the cot, even with your hand on him. But not in your arms.

What do you think?
