Should I wake him?
« on: September 05, 2013, 14:18:20 pm »
We're on day 2 of only have one nap, our day looks like this:

7:30/8am - wakes
8am - breakfast and milk
11am - snack
11:30am - nap
2:30pm - wake
2:30/3pm - snack
5:30/6pm - dinner
7:15/30pm - milk and bed

Both yesterday and today I've had to wake at 2:30pm, mainly to keep on track of food and so that DTS doesn't creep over 3hrs. He's still adjusting so seems tired in the evenings but its not unbearable. WWYD?

Wow, he seems like a good sleeper!! How much sleep do you think he needs in total over a day?

I'd be tempted to let him nap a bit longer if he still seems tired, maybe not every day - but just enough to avoid the buildup of ot.

Thank you. Before we jumped into the transition of one nap fully we were doing x2 1hr naps but it was getting hard to fit it all in and I don't think he was benefitting from two shorter naps. I'm amazed how well he's doing so far! He's not had more than 3hrs DTS since before about 7m so I'm scared to creep over this. Especially as days are working out just less than 12hrs.

Hi!

At this age my DD was doing 3h naps (we pretty much always had to wake her) and 12h nights too. It it were me I'd keep the nap at 3h and do a slightly earlier BT (even
Just by 15m) if your concerned hes tired and on the road to OT

Thanks ladies. Lovely to have another perspective on things :) I left his room at 7:15pm tonight, but at bedtime he sits on my lap and drinks his milk from his beaker whilst I read a book. He never fusses during this time so I think hes quite happy at the moment. If OT creeps in I think I'll bring bedtime forwards as you said Hena. After reading so much about the 2:1 being a nightmare, I feel so lucky hes taken to it well (touch wood) just hope it continues to suit him. In the run up to the nap things have to be quite chilled out, so I'm hoping once he adjusts we can get to some groups again.

Thanks again x
