15 month old nw's
« on: September 20, 2013, 14:50:59 pm »
My 15 month old has been waking every night for the last few weeks.  He usually wakes up 1 - 2 hours after bedtime, and then once more at random times later in the night.  Last night it was 8:30, 1:45am, and then up for the day at 5:20am.  His bedtime is between 7 - 7:30pm.  Here is a typical day:

WU 6:00am
1st nap  9:00am, sleeps for 1 - 2 hours
2nd nap  2:30pm, sleeps for 1.5 hours
BT 7:15pm
1st waking 8:30 or 9:30pm.  we usually go to him and give him a cuddle and put him back in his crib right away.
2nd waking varies.  anywhere between 1:00am - 4:00am.  sometimes i have to lie with him in bed to get him back to sleep
EW  each day he has been waking earlier and earlier.  5:00am - 5:45am.

He is always teething - he has 3 molars coming in right now.  I have tried to give him meds, but it hasn't helped.  Does he need a later bedtime?  Does he need to drop to one nap?

Thanks for your help!

The mods can likely help you better than I can, but from first glance it looks like he might be UT and you might need to make the push to 1 nap.

You can try pushing his A time slowly and get towards doing 1 nap at 11am, or what I did when transitioning is offer 1 x short nap and 1 x long nap and you can arrange it either short nap first (30mins) in the morning and long nap in the afternoon, or vice versa.

I try to give at least 3.5 - 4 hrs from afternoon wake up until BT.

Last night was better.  I put him to bed a bit later to make sure he was tired.  He didn't wake up through the night, but he was up early at 5:30am.  He's really only getting 10 hours of sleep per night.  Is that enough?

No it's not really. I agree with Lindsay and would make the push to one nap.

You might be surprised a out how much awake time he can handle. I remember being where you are only a few months ago and we moved to a 10 am then 10.30/11/11.30 nap quite easily and sometimes he'll pullout a 2,5 hr nap and is always tired for bed.
