The other thing you can do - and I apologise if I have mentioned this or if you have already tried it - is to do a short, 20-30 mins catnap in the morning, and then put her down again maybe 3hrs later for a long PM nap. My son did this until he was 15 months old and then we made the change to one nap.

My little one I used to do a short nap about 10am, and then a long nap about 1.30-2pm.

I just read through and I  see the nw's arent going away she is just learning to settle herself for them.  Thats a really good thing, but imo you really need to get back to 2 naps. The reason she is waking so many times at night is because she is OT. Her nap is early in the day and not lasting long enough to get her to that late BT. If you really must keep her up so late at night, then I would either get her back on 2 naps or figure out how to get her to sleep much later in the mornng.

You said she gets sleepy pretty early in the morning, so I would follow her cues and put her down for a catnap when she looks like she is getting tired. Let her sleep 30 min. Then get her up and put her down for a nap 4-4.5 hours later. If she fights a nap after 4 hours then try 4.5 hours and if she still fights it try 4.45. It's a matter of getting her timing right so that she can get the sleep she needs and make it to BT without getting OT.

Okay!! Thank you so much! We'll go for the cat nap tmrw morning. She also still fusses and cries for 15 to 30 minutes when I put her down for sleep. That should eventually stop, right?

If you get her caught up on sleep then the crying should stop. In my experience an UT LO will usually lay happily awake but an OT LO will fight sleep tooth and nail. And once she gets some good sleep then she is more likely to sleep more. As they say sleep begets sleep.

Ok. She started rubbing her eyes and yawning 2.5 hours after she woke this morning. So I read and snuggled her for 15 minutes. Then I tried to put her down. We tried for 20 minutes. I got her up, changed her and played a little. Then we tried again. She's been screaming most of the time. I've gone in there 3 times. She's been awake for over 4 hours now. I've been singing and talking from the door. Did I just try too early?

So now she's been up for over 5 hours . :/ I don't know what I'm doing wrong. We are eating lunch now. She's got giant tired eyes. Should I try for a cat nap at all or just do one nap?

Yeh I think she was very undertired, fought it, and wound up overtired.

At this point I would just try for a long nap. Then tomorrow try putting down just a tiny bit later than you tried today. I know you don't want to create props but at this point if it were me,I would do whatever I can just to get her to sleep. You can fix everything else later.

Today she has been up for 3.5 hours. She's been yawning and rubbing her eyes for the last 30 min. We snuggled and read for a bit then rocked and sang. She's fussing in her bed now. I'm not sure how long I should let that go on. I don't want it to be like yesterday. Her one nap was one hour and 17 minutes.

Is it possible your wind down is taking too long and she is it by the time she gets into bed

Maybe. It's probably 10 minutes or do. I ended up rocking her to sleep and waking her 30 minutes later. She's been up for 3 hours now. I was thinking of starting to try to put her down again.

I don't know what I 'm doing wrong. She woke at 7 today. I got her down for a cat nap at 11:20. I had to rock her to get her to sleep. I woke her at 11:50. I started trying to get her down for a real nap at 2:50. It's 3:38 and she still won't sleep. I've left her, rocked her, sung to her. She's do tired. At this point do I just quit? And won't a later nap like this move back her bedtime?
