Toddlers A Time
« on: September 28, 2013, 04:03:41 am »
Hi! My daughter is 23 months. 5 months ago she entered day care. This affected her cause she was coming home OT (7:30-11:45) and during lunch she was having many tantrums. Finally I decided to take her to sleep instead of having lunch and moving lunch to 2 pm, we were doing well until a month ago...

She entered  day care cause I was having an awful pregnancy so I needed some rest, now because I am having an awful time with my refluxer :) and almost going back to work. I donīt know if this is affecting her directly (Im stressed, tired, sometimes depressed and crying a lot) but she is behaving terribly and also coming from day care not interested at all in food nor sleep.

She is not a sleepy type, but I think she still needs to nap, otherwise she will be all touchy in the evening. How long can she stay up? She is waking up at 6:00-6:30, buy sometimes having EW at 5:30-5:45 cause her brother wakes her up.
Nanita :)

Hi there

My little girl is the same age. What time are you putting her for her nap after daycare? If my daughter woke at 6.30, she would need to have her nap at 12.30 at the latest. She could probably hang on til 1, but not every day. In case you're interested, her routine is wake at 7, nap at 12.30-1 for about 2hrs, and then bed at 7.

Hi!

Big ((hugs)) - it sounds like you're having a really tough time if it. At this age our day was very similiar to Anna's. So 7am WU with nap at 12.30 for 2-2.5h (depending on how tired R was but as a general duly capped at 2h15m) and BT between 6.45-7pm dependent on nap lenght.

Hth x

Hi! her formal schedule was 7am WU, 9 am snack, 12 lunch, 1-2 or 3 pm nap, 7 pm BT. When she started day care I changed BD to 6 pm, so she started waking at 6-6:30 am. Lunch and nap stayed the same for a month, but it wasnīt working she was OT.

Now I try to do this schedule: WU 6:00 am, 7:30 am-11:45 am day care, 12:00-1:30 or 2:00 pm nap, 2:00 pm lunch, 6:30-7:00 pm BT. However, when we come in the car and she says she is hungry I give her lunch and then she goes to sleep at 1 pm to 2:30 or 3:00 pm.

BUT 2-3 days a week I take her to bed as soon as we get home (noon) and she wants to open doors, play around, seems tired but at the same time interested in playing. If she kept this way (happy) all afternoon I will be ok with that, but she starts getting cranky and touchy at 4-5 pm. Iīve tried getting her to take a short nap around these hours when she doesnīt nap earlier but she is not able to sleep, is like if she had more energy but it is canalized into tantrums...

She has a lot going on with a new baby etc. Is there any way you could APOP a nap with her for a few days - lie down with her (I bet you could use a nap too, if the baby will nap). Or go with the later nap if that seems to work for you. Often toddlers need a later nap but bedtime can stay the same.
