2-1 transition with 12mo - how short should morning nap go?
« on: September 30, 2013, 07:08:03 am »
Hi all,
Well DS was 1 last Thursday so here we are on the 'older' board!
We are in the middle of 2-1 transition with routine up until a week or so ago :
WU 6-6.30 5oz formula/cows milk mix
E 730 brekkie
S 930-945
E 1130 lunch
Followed by 3oz cows milk
S 1-245
E 430
Bath
E 620 7oz formula/cows milk mix
BT 7

He goes to nursery 3 days a week and this works fine for him there but at home he is starting to refuse naps.

In the last week or so a few things have started to happen:
1) he will lie down at 930 for a few minutes after yawning but won't actually sleep. Then is wide awake until falling asleep around 10-10.30. I still cap at 15mins but that then means afternoon nap generally doesn't happen until nearer 2 which is then short as I wake at 245 to keep BT
2) I have tried leaving him to sleep when he is still awake at 10-10.30 but he will only sleep an hour which then means I have to fight to get in a catnap at around 3.30-4

My question is should I cut morning nap to 10mins now? Then 5? Ideally I'd like him to sleep from 12/12.30-2/2.30 so he gets a decent amount of sleep in one go. We are going on holiday at the weekend for two weeks so think it would be a good time to try something if I need to tweak his sleep.
What do you think??

Once it got to be a 15 min am nap I  switched to 1 nap at 11am. Do you think this would work? Lo's need to be able to handle 4.5 hours of A time before they go to 1 nap.
